DOCUMENT OBJECTIVE

Why ... Why am I starting this 'send it out to everybody' news document.  Well boys and girls, men and women, damen und herren, Burgerin und Burger because I like to write.  Over the years I have made some friends, some are in Minneapolis others are in Australia.  From time to time I have written to these people and I find it great fun.

As time passes and people grow or get smaller, we tend to loose touch with what is far away.  So I have begun to watch Star Trek and send out this INFO DOC.  It will be sent to all ... relatives, brother in laws, old lovers, new lovers, friends, distant friends, enemies, colleagues, my Wife and the scientific community.

INTRODUCTION

And yes ... welcome to the first edition of the Macgowan Report.  I would like to welcome all of the readers, and thank you for taking the time out of your day to share some of the mode with me .. Chris Macgowan.  We will be talking more about why am have begun this bimonthly document to my friends more in the OBJECTIVE.  For now I wanted to take a moment any say hello to everyone in the audience and I hope that everything is going well.

Things are good here in St. Paul, Minnesota at the moment ... very busy ... but good.  Halloween is past us and now we are looking ahead to the Christmas Season.  I really like Halloween more than Christmas, but it is nice to see relatives and old fiends that my come in to town.  I always wanted to go and work in a soup kitchen or spend some time with some unfortunate people during Christmas ... it seemed better to help some people around this time.  Maybe this year I will do this.  I will let you know in the next letter.

So this is the end of the introduction for Volume 1, Number 1 .... If you have any questions, comments please write to the publisher of this thing ... and we will see what we can do for you.  10-4 ... Good.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

THE VIEWING AUDIENCE

When did all this letter writing stuff start?  This is the question that we must ask ourselves.  To understand the problem you have to go back to June of 1986.  Paul Grausam and I went on a big adventure to Europe.  We would be gone for nine weeks traveling through the cities of Europe, sweeping most cities in just two days .... maybe staying three days in some of the larger cities.  We began our trek in Frankfurt, Germany and traveled through the beautiful country side of Germany, France, Belgium, England and Ireland.  As we traveled by bike and train, this would be my introduction to these lands.  The point that must be emphisised here are the people that we met along the way.

The people that we met along our path would make this the memorable journey that it was.  Paul and I made efforts to meet people in these town as we passed by.  Discovering the new land, the buildings and landscape were all part of our adventure .... but we both knew that it would be the people that we met that would stay with us for a life time.

Then Paul and I returned from our bike trip and I began to write to many of the people that I had contacted in Europe.  It was interesting to develop these relationships through the written letter.

As time moved forward I met more people and wrote more letters, and then I moved to Berlin for two years.  During this time in Berlin, those long relationships fostered by letters were now with my friends from home.

Now I find myself back home writing to friends that I made while in Berlin and those people that I met in 1986.

So we get to the point here, The Viewing Audience of this news letter.  It will be close friends in my home town, people that I met while in Europe, relatives and assorted other characters ... So with all that said we will try to get on with the substance of this document.

THE WORD FROM THE LORD

The word from the LORD, what is this article about ... Gee as I write I have not really decided.  I was thinking that It might be a good time for a photo.  There was a real good photo of my family taken at my sisters wedding.

So we will use the photo above and we will title this article "The Wedding of my only Sister".
Nancy Macgowan ... My only Sister, was married to mister James Puckett on October 3, 1992 (The day of German Unification).  Jim (as we in the family call him) asked Nancy that BIG Question one night on top of the Empire State Building.

The Wedding took place in Long Island, New York.  It was a beautiful Fall Wedding.

Jennifer and I spent Thursday and Friday in New York City.  It was Jennifer's first time in New York.  We went to see a play and had had dinner in Little Italy.  Then we took the train to Long Island.

All the relatives were there and it was a grand party.  I suppose the most exciting moment was to have the best seat in the house (church) as Jim and Nancy took and read their vows to love each other for the rest of their natural lives.

The band at the reception was great, a four piece jazz band that was put together by one of Nancy's friends.

Mom and dad were very happy with the wedding and had a wonderful time.  I got to meet Jim's Mom and Dad for the first time.  And that was the wedding of my Sister.  This is the end of my Story.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN LOCAL MINNESOTA

The news from the Twin Cities (The Twin Cities refers to St. Paul and Minneapolis) is this:  Work, play and film.  Film will be covered in a special section in this news letter some other place.  We will begin with WORK.  Work is going good.  I am working at HEAF, the Higher Education Assistance Foundation.  I support and develop software for a number of systems in Clipper on a DOS platform.  Working for HEAF has been strange as it is contract employment.  I am working now until December 1992.  HEAF will be closing in December 1993, so we will see how long I will stay with them.

Jennifer and I moved into an apartment in August together.  This was a big step for both of us but we talked about it and we both feel comfortable.  This is the first time that I have lived with a woman that I loved and it is the first time that Jennifer has lived away from home .... so it has made for some interesting conflict now and then.  The biggest problem has been our difference in cleaning habits, Jennifer .... I believe is just too clean ... and she of course thinks that I am a BIG SLOB.  So you people that have lived with me out there [Dan, Mike, Ray, Terry, Ela, Walter, Martina] you can send your comments to the publisher and I voice your opinion.  Any way, Jennifer and I continue to live in harmony with lots of future plans.

The people in the Twin Cities are doing well ... hope you all are doing well, you know who you are.  It has been difficult since I started working and school to see everyone as much as I would like ... I miss that part, but I think that this is the evolution that is taking place as some grow closer and other apart.  Dan has moved to New Jersey to work for Siemens (Fiber Optics, the same group I worked with in Berlin).  <<<hi dan, hope all is well in new jersey ... say hello to dr. guerkaynak, herr wilder if you talk to berlin>>>  A special congratulations goes out to Terry and Eggo, the first couple to Wed in the crew ... who will be next ???

Well that is about all the news from home.  There is ample more to write but I would like not to bore all of the people all of the time.  So from Minnesota, I say good night and have a good sleep.  I need something here, I really do not know what it is.  SO WE SEE BABY GOOD BYE 1-1-2-5-8-3-827282

DER DEUTSCH ECKE

Und diese ist der Deutsch Eche.  Ich weiss da sind vielle Leute von Deutschland in der Publicum.  Meisten kannst Englisch lesen ... ander viellich es macht spass zu meine Deutsch gelesen.  So zu alle der Deutsche ... ja wie gehts ?  Ich hoffe alles ist ok mit dir und alles.  Und Berlin, ja ich vermisst das.

Der letst Monart war vielle in der Zeitung Uber Berlin mit Kristalnacht, Die Nazis und Erick Honnicker.  Wann ich hore diese oder leist das dann ich denke uber Berlin.

Ja Na ...  So diese is der Deutsch Ecke.  Es tut mir leid wiel ich habe nicht meine Deutsch Wortebuch ..... haha ahahaha ah
 

FILM

Film ... So as you may or may not know I went back to school to study FILM.  And some day I look forward to doing something in film rather they software or engineering.

So how is everything going at MACGOWAN PRODUCTIONs ?  Well it was going good until last Thursday night when we viewed my third film ... it was so good, or it did not get the reaction that I had hoped for.

The Final film that I am working on will involve the OLD PEOPLE that live in our world, the wisdom, knowledge, experience and how we lock them up in OLD PEOPLE HOMES.

Sound class is going good.  We are also preparing to record out final project.  I will do a radio show from the center of the Earth.  Here a bunch of high tech miners from the US meet a bunch of Chinese miners from Africa.  They will discover that the center of the Earth was not what they thought it was.

Last but not least.  The 35W Public Service Announcement.  We are trying to get Light Rail Transit (LRT) into Minneapolis and St. Paul.  This video production will support LRT vs the expansion of the huge highway in the city.  It is alot t of politics ... and has been a great experience in production.

LETTERS

This section of the new letter or document will be where I make note of letters that were sent to me with comments or just general fun shit.  So I remind you .... If you have a good verse or a poem [EGGO] or something cool.  Or if you send a nice letter maybe I will just mention what a nice person that you are .... Oh i will probably do that from time to time anyway.

Today we would like to say Hello to Marie Pierre Juliet and Anne Mingalon.  I met these two women in Britania, the North of France.  Myself, Volker and eight other people spent the week between Christmas and New Years in Britania.

We all stayed in an old farm house near the ocean, the only heat was the wood fireplace in the kitchen.  Volker, Anne, Marie and myself stayed up a couple nights until 4.00am talking about relationships, love, men, women and all of that stuff ... it made for good conversation and began new friendships.

Anne and Marie-Pierre are back in Paris and Volker is in Berlin, we continue to write and share our worlds.  I look forward to seeing them all soon.
